Job Duties
The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Finance and Human Resource Specialist. The duties and responsibilities of this position include assisting the Finance and HR Administrator with administration of various finance and human resources related activities; ensuring timely submission of monthly, calendar year-end, and fiscal year-end reporting requirements; supporting the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and procurement functions of the agency; supporting the student financial assistance process; maintaining accurate information in the Student Information System; assisting the Finance and HR Administrator with planning, coordinating, delivery, and tracking of human resource activities including but not limited to Performance Management, Recruitment, Hiring, New Employee Orientation, and Annual Benefits Enrollment; maintaining clean and reliable financial records by tracking transactions, verifying accuracy of every entry, and keeping documents secured. This is a restricted, classified position.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in financial reporting and HR administration. Knowledge and experience with HR administration to include state and federal laws, procedures, government regulations, and executive orders. Working knowledge and experience with computerized accounting and HR systems. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse audiences. Experience in handling matters that requires strict confidentiality. Must possess excellent interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and adhere to established policies and procedures. Strong time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Advanced digital literacy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel. High School Graduate or equivalent.

Coursework in Accounting or Human Resources. Experience in procurement, budget management, grants management, and grants reporting
