Founded in 2015 by Bill and Kim Adams of Nathalie, VA, Recovering Hands is a nonprofit extended-care center that is dedicated to improving the quality of life for women with substance abuse issues through a three month, residential, peer support program. The Recovering Hands program focuses on teaching women the life skills necessary to maintain long term recovery.
The Adams will host Southside Shindig X and the Fifth Annual Recovering Hands Alumni Event this Sunday May 30th from 1 p.m. to “whenever”. The event is open to everyone who wishes to support Recovering Hands.
Raffle tickets will be available for a 4’x4’ Barn Quilt, and two 50/50 raffles will also be held with a portion of the benefits going to the musicians and the other funding Recovering Hands scholarships.
The shindig will include music, pig pickin’ corn hole, slip n slide, tournament horseshoes, Frisbee, tours of the facility, food, fun and fellowship.
Guests are asked to bring a favorite dish and lawn chair, but leave the pets at home.
Recovering Hands is an accredited Virginia Recovery Residence and includes two cabins — one for residents and the other is for staff — as well as the main house that serves as the Adams’ home and an area for activities and meals.
The group room is housed in a separate building near the main house where the life skills program is mostly conducted.
Also on the property are a labyrinth, greenhouse and gym.

Our program relies almost entirely on the generosity of our donors. We fight the effects of this Opioid Epidemic one grateful life at a time. Please come on out and tour the facility and enjoy the space.
