On July 26th at 6 PM, author Eric W. Buckland will give a presentation at the SBHC Museum on "Mosbey's Rangers." "Mosby's Rangers" was a Virginia Calvery unit under the command of Colonel John Singleton Mosby. Mosby was a famed commander that is still today recognized by the United States Army Ranger Hall of Fame.
Buckland was a guest speaker at the 18th Annual Civil War Seminar - Leadership in the Civil War at Longwood University on February 18, 2017, and is a two-time recipient of the United Daughters of the Confederacy's Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal.
Buckland has written several books over the last ten years detailing the history of this ranger unit. His presentation will be drawn from his two latest books: "They Rode with Mosby" and "From Rockbridge to Loudon."
We invite all to come and listen to the story of their service during the war, how the unit matured and how these men moved forward with their lives once the war ended. General admission is free to the public.
