SVHEC Partnering with Radford University and New College Institute
to Offer New Cybersecurity Program SVHEC to host free informational session lunch on August 1st
The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) is partnering with Radford University and New College Institute to offer a new cybersecurity program for working IT professionals. Through this unique partnership, Radford University’s Innovative Mobile Personalized Accelerated Competency Training or IMPACT, will be available through the SVHEC this fall. Interested individuals may attend a free information luncheon at the SVHEC on August 1st.
Cybersecurity is a growing field, with the Commonwealth of Virginia estimating 36,000 job openings across 650 companies. According to state data, last year approximately 78 million cyberattacks were launched against companies or local governments within the Commonwealth. Two hundred of those cases led to a reported data breach.
Radford’s IMPACT cybersecurity program is designed for existing IT professionals who wish to increase their knowledge and certifications in security. Classes are primarily delivered online in a self-paced manner, and includes some onsite or video-conference seminars with Radford University faculty. The program is 18 credits and may be completed within 12 months. In addition, the program will prepare students for multiple industry-recognized cyber defense certifications including CISCO CCENT, SANS GCIH, SANS GPEN, and CISSP.
IT professionals interested in learning more about the Radford IMPACT cybersecurity program are encouraged to attend an information luncheon at the SVHEC on Wednesday, August 1st. The luncheon is free, but registration is required by calling Amy Cole at 434-572-5441 or emailing amycole@svhec.org.
