Mid-Atlantic Broadband Communities Corporation (MBC) is currently seeking a candidate for a full-time GIS Analyst in South Boston, Virginia. This position is an entry level role responsible for supporting the Network Operations team in analyzing, implementing, and maintaining various GIS records, databases, and resources.
 
MBC owns and operates an extensive open-access fiber optic network, providing wholesale optical transport services to communities throughout the southern Virginia region. Created in 2004, MBC's mission is one of economic revitalization and development in rural Virginia, working closely with communities and regional economic development groups to bring state-of-the-art broadband transport services to the area and help drive private sector investments in our region.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 

• Digitize construction prints in MBC’s ArcGIS/CrescentLink mapping system.
• Assist with providing Network Operations and Sales teams with necessary KMZs, static, and web maps.
• Assist with the management and maintenance of ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise accounts.
• Create new interactive web apps to assist with updating Outside Plant (OSP) records, estimates, and sales.
• Support Network Operations and Accounting teams/contractors in asset inventory throughout the MBC network and document findings in geospatial records.
• Assist in maintaining and updating MBC’s fiber network geodatabase.
• Maintain MBC’s VA 811 Miss Utility database
• Maintain MBC’s On Net Building and Towers database
• Perform site walks to verify database records as necessary
• Troubleshoot map failure issues with the assistance of IT resources.
• Assist Operations team with documenting and creating necessary circuit diagrams.
• Other duties as assigned.

• One (1) to three (3) years of ArcGIS experience is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Advanced computer skills with emphasis on ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcServer, PowerPoint, Google Earth, MS Excel and Word. 
• Experience with telecom, CrescentLink, and CAD systems are a plus.
• Continuous computer keyboard activity and ability to bend, stoop, sit, and lift.
• Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to operate outside plant engineering tools and equipment such as measuring wheel, height stick, company vehicle, etc.
