    Commercial HVAC Startup/Service Technician

    Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic, LLC is a leading building and service provider for HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing building systems. We have over 62,600 square feet of best-in-class facilities located in South Boston, VA, including offices, sheet metal fabrication, plumbing and piping fabrication, and warehousing.  We are currently looking to add a Commercial HVAC Startup/Service Technician to our team!   This position is for performing the startup of commercial HVAC systems that range from new construction, renovation projects, and retro fit applications as well as initial service on units while following the five core values of Comfort Systems USA:  Be Safe.     Commercial HVAC Startup/Service Techs responsibilities include:

    • Working with estimators, project managers, electricians, contractors, agency representatives, and other trades to verify the installation and components of equipment are meet both the manufacturer’s recommendations and engineer’s specifications for each project
    • Being knowledgeable in a variety of systems including: rooftop package units, split systems, VRF systems, water source heat pumps, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, hot water and chilled water air handlers, hydronic pumps, starters, and variable frequency drives
    • Using a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schematics and/or engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units
    • Perform owner training as needed
    • Perform warranty calls while equipment meets warranty guidelines
    • Install small refrigeration piping systems, electrical wiring and terminations, electrical conduit and some small piping applications as needed
    • Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files
    • Carrying out all related HVAC diagnostic, startup, and commissioning work as required
    • Troubleshooting DDC controls system components, field devices, control panels, and networking issues
    • Maintaining a professional appearance and always representing Comfort Systems USA in an ethical and professional manner
    • Evaluating area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to technicians, and assisting in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.
    • Performing other related duties or special projects, as assigned.

    The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, but candidates who do not meet all of these, but are looking for their next career opportunity and enjoy learning are encouraged to apply still.

    • 5+ years related experience and/or training, HVAC technical school preferred
    • EPA certified
    • 2 years of DDC experience preferred
    • OSHA 10 preferred
    • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and to work on ladders, scaffolds, and/or lifts
