Office and Event Coordinator

The Halifax County Chamber of Commerce is seeking an Office and Event Coordinator. Responsibilities include office management, basic bookkeeping, recordkeeping, event and administrative support, and data entry. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining office files, member records, equipment, and supplies; working with the public and volunteers; and maintaining the master calendar and online calendar of events. Bookkeeping responsibilities include processing accounts payable and receivables, preparing and making bank deposits, and account reconciliation. Event responsibilities include providing administrative support to all programming including support needed for the implementation of the Community Strategic Plan. This individual should be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Computer skills required include knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint. General bookkeeping knowledge required. Peachtree preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience with email marketing software, database platforms, social media, and website maintenance. Experience in grant writing and reporting is preferred. A strong work ethic and customer service as well as excellent written and communication skills are required.
Fulltime hourly position (35-40 Hours). Normal working hours at 9 am – 5pm, Monday through Friday. Hours may be adjusted depending upon after-hours events. Excellent benefits package including vacation, 12 paid holidays, retirement, and paid health, dental, and life insurance.
